Java + Tesseract, 53 byte
Dato che non ho Mathematica, ho deciso di piegare un po 'le regole e usare Tesseract per fare l'OCR. Ho scritto un programma che trasforma "2014" in un'immagine, usando vari tipi di carattere, dimensioni e stili e trova l'immagine più piccola che viene riconosciuta come "2014". I risultati dipendono dai caratteri disponibili.
Ecco il vincitore sul mio computer - 53 byte, usando il carattere "URW Gothic L":
