Questo è SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2. Ho 2 tavoli. Entrambi sono identici (dati e indicizzazione), tranne per il fatto che la prima tabella ha una colonna VALUE nvarchar(max)
e la seconda ha la stessa colonna di nvarchar(800)
. Questa colonna è inclusa in un indice non cluster. Ho anche creato un indice cluster su entrambe le tabelle. Ho anche ricostruito gli indici. La lunghezza massima della stringa in questa colonna è 650.
Se eseguo la stessa query su entrambi i nvarchar(800)
tavoli è sempre più veloce, molte volte due volte più veloce. Sicuramente sembra sconfiggere lo scopo di "varchar". La tabella contiene oltre 800.000 righe. La query dovrebbe esaminare circa 110.000 righe (che è ciò che stima il piano).
Secondo le statistiche io non ci sono letture lob, quindi tutto sembra essere in fila. I piani di esecuzione sono gli stessi, tranne che c'è una leggera differenza nella percentuale di costo tra le due tabelle e la dimensione della riga stimata è maggiore con nvarchar(max)
(91 byte contro 63 byte). Anche il numero di letture è praticamente lo stesso.
