Eclipse: si è verificato un errore durante il filtraggio delle risorse

Sto costruendo un progetto Spring MVC ed Eclipse sta generando questo errore (vedi screenshot). Il mio pom.xml è:

Maven -> Aggiorna progetto ... ha risolto questo problema per me

Bene, questo ha risolto anche il mio. Qualcuno ha capito perché questo accade? Hai sempre presunto che Eclipse si aggiornava automaticamente mentre modifichi pom.xml?
