Impossibile montare un disco rigido esterno su Windows e Linux

Mio fratello ha un problema con il suo disco rigido esterno (Western Digital 500 GB, file system NTFS), non riesce a leggere le cose su di esso con il suo PC Windows 7, tuttavia penso che Windows lo riconosca come si consiglia di formattarlo.

Gli ho detto che gli mostrerò la potenza di Linux (backtrack 5) e recupereremo i suoi dati prima di formattarli. Il fatto è che ci provo da una settimana e penso che non vado da nessuna parte.

Windows 7 non è in grado di leggere i dati sull'unità. Windows 7 suggerisce solo di formattarlo. Linux non è in grado di leggere i dati sul disco. Sembra che l'unità sia morta. Sono disposto a scommettere che se provassi a formattarlo, il processo di formattazione fallirebbe.

O forse la scheda USB è fritta ... L'HDD potrebbe (o potrebbe non funzionare) se collegato direttamente a SATA. Almeno con la mia esperienza vale la pena provare più volte, alcune unità (quelle rotte) sembrano funzionare meglio quando sono collegate a SATA reale. Penso che abbia qualcosa a che fare con un migliore ripristino / ripristino dell'interfaccia da errore. Anche se l'unità è rotta ma viene riconosciuta con SATA, prova a leggerlo all'indietro ...
