Sulla base della risposta di @hopeithelps, sembra che i programmi considerino / dev / video0 la webcam predefinita. Sul mio sistema, / dev / video0 è inizialmente la telecamera integrata, mentre / dev / video1 appare / scompare automaticamente quando la webcam esterna è collegata / staccata.

Quindi ho appena scritto un semplice comando per impostare / dev / video0 in modo che punti alla "migliore fotocamera disponibile": la webcam, se presente, e la fotocamera integrata in caso contrario. Testato con guvcview e Google Hangouts, utilizzando due diverse webcam Logitech. Sto eseguendo Ubuntu 13.10 (in realtà Mint Petra) su un Thinkpad T530i.

Penso di avere una soluzione. Non so se riesci a far funzionare di nuovo la fotocamera del tuo laptop, ma almeno sono riuscito a creare una USB come impostazione predefinita.

L'ho fatto così:

1. sudo rm /dev/video0
   Dopo questo non ho potuto avviare Camorama Webcam Viewer.
2. sudo chmod -R 777 /dev
   Questo ti dà il permesso di cambiare i nomi dei file
3. mv /dev/video1 /dev/video0
   Questo rinomina la tua fotocamera USB a dev0
