Come posso aggiungere una nuova voce di avvio del sistema operativo al menu di GRUB2?

Sono abbastanza nuovo su Linux, ma negli ultimi giorni mi sono preso la briga di provarlo. Sto provando alcune diverse distribuzioni solo per avere un'idea delle diverse versioni, e questa è l'unica cosa che mi ha davvero fatto impazzire.

Ho iniziato con Windows 7, quindi ho installato Ubuntu 13.10 (che funziona perfettamente) e quindi ho installato Linux Mint. Tuttavia, non ho modo di avviare Linux Mint, ed è quello che mi piacerebbe realizzare. Il mio obiettivo è quello di avere una voce di menu Linux Mint nel menu Grub2 che appare all'avvio insieme alle voci di menu Ubuntu e Windows 7 (e alcune altre che devo ancora usare, come il sottomenu Opzioni avanzate di Ubuntu e il voce del menu memtest).

Nel caso in cui sia necessaria una di queste informazioni, ecco alcune informazioni dalla tabella delle partizioni GParted, nonché parti di bootinfoscript dell'output:

Informazioni sulle partizioni e descrizioni tratte da GParted:

  1. /dev/sda1 è una partizione primaria 101,94 MiB con file system fat16 con un flag di "diag"
  2. /dev/sda2è una partizione primaria da 11,29 GiB con file system ntfs con un flag di "avvio" e un'etichetta di "RECOVERY". Secondo /boot/grub/grub.cfg, questo è dove risiede il caricatore di Windows 7. Non ho problemi ad avviare Windows 7 dal menu Grub2 corrente.
  3. /dev/sda3è una partizione primaria da 275.12 GiB con file system ntfs con un'etichetta di "OS". Questa partizione contiene tutti i miei file che sono stati originariamente creati su Windows, anche se alcuni sono stati salvati utilizzando i programmi Ubuntu (finora nulla è andato storto modificando i file tra i sistemi operativi, ma fammi sapere se questo è male per qualsiasi motivo).
  4. /dev/sda4è una partizione estesa da 171.01 GiB. Questa partizione è attualmente montata. Questo contiene la partizione di swap, oltre alle partizioni logiche per Ubuntu 13.10 e Linux Mint 16:
    • /dev/sda5è una partizione logica da 58,79 GiB con file system ext4, che contiene l'installazione di Linux Mint 16. In GParted, dice che il punto di montaggio per questo file system è /. Questa è l'unica partizione che ha una voce del punto di montaggio non vuota. Non so che cosa pensare, e al momento non so nemmeno come avviare Linux Mint 16 come attualmente risiede.
    • /dev/sda6è una partizione da 19,56 GiB (credo sia considerata primaria?) con il file system "linux-swap". Questo è stato creato automaticamente quando ho installato Ubuntu, ma ho aumentato le sue dimensioni manualmente di circa 10 GB quando avevo qualche problema nel tentativo di installare Linux Mint 16. Linux Mint 16 è attualmente installato con successo per quanto posso dire, ma io non so come avviarlo come ho detto prima. Questa partizione è attualmente montata.
    • /dev/sda7è una partizione logica da 36,41 GiB con file system ext4, che contiene Ubuntu 13.10. Ubuntu 13.10 funziona abbastanza bene, ed è quello in cui sto scrivendo questa domanda. Questa partizione è attualmente montata.

Non sono sicuro che questa configurazione della partizione sia buona o no, perché non ero in grado di creare una partizione primaria aggiuntiva (4 max), ma ho pensato che Ubuntu poteva avviarsi all'interno della partizione estesa, Linux Mint dovrebbe essere in grado di , quindi ho aggiunto Linux Mint a una partizione nella stessa partizione estesa di Ubuntu (che è in /dev/sda5), ma nella sua partizione logica /dev/sda7.

Nel /boot/grub/grub.cfgfile ci sono diverse menuentryunità. Se il modo giusto per avviare Linux Mint dal menu Grub2 è semplicemente aggiungere un blocco menuentry per Linux Mint, allora mi piacerebbe sapere come farlo. Se c'è un modo migliore per far sì che ciascuno di questi sistemi operativi abbia un'opzione da avviare all'avvio, fammelo sapere anche io!

Ho visto una domanda un po 'simile qui, ma mi è sembrato un po' diverso dal momento che quell'utente non aveva due partizioni del sistema operativo contenute nella stessa partizione estesa e non volevo solo sparare al buio e forse rompere qualcosa di importante per errore.

Qualcosa che ho appena notato - Mint ha il suo file grub.cfg, e sia Mint che Ubuntu sono mostrati qui nell'output bootinfoscript. Sarebbe facile come un po 'di copia e incolla accurata di determinate linee di menu e altre funzioni per far funzionare tutto?

Potresti provare update-gruba vedere se rileverà Linux Mint. Questo dovrebbe verificare per vedere quali sistemi operativi sono installati.

In alternativa, è possibile provare a eseguire grub-install /dev/sdal' avvio da USB (o LiveCD) live e in esecuzione con il disco rigido montato. Ciò reinstallerà GRUB e dovrebbe verificare nuovamente la presenza di altri sistemi operativi.

Superiore! Il comando ha sudo update-grupfunzionato senza problemi. Grazie. Solo una nota; l'opzione alternativa di Sil deve essere eseguita nell'unità di avvio, che non è automaticamente /dev/sda- nel mio caso lo è /dev/sdb;)
